For questions or help with the NCAA Clearinghouse, see Mr. Hart in the Counseling Office.
You must complete 16 core classes during high school.
Core classes include:
English (4 years)
Math (3 years, Algebra 1 or higher)
Natural and Physical Sciences (2 years)
Social Science (2 years)
An additional year of English, Math, or natural / physical sciences (1 year)
4 Additional academic courses (4 years)
10 of these courses must be completed BEFORE your 7th semester of high school.
IMPORTANT UPDATE for 2016: once you begin your 7th semester in high school, you may not use Credit Retrieval to make up any of the 10 Core Courses in order to meet minimum eligibility requirements.
You must have a 2.3 gpa or higher in these core courses to meet eligibility requirements.
Each school has it's own list of approved courses, formerly called the 48H form. Only courses on this approved list count to your NCAA GPA and the initial clearing process.
Please note that, in general, no classes that are computer based or use computers as a means of instruction are approved by NCAA for use in initial eligibility clearing.
The actual clearing process does not begin until the end of your Junior Year of high school. You will need to submit a "six semester" transcript as soon as possible after 11th grade ends.
Take the SAT or ACT in Spring of your Junior Year of high school. List code 9999 in the school / program area to ensure that the Clearing House gets your official scores.
